2011 Legion Community DaysAugust 26 - 28Legion Community Days is set for the 6th. Annual festival August 26 - 28. The committee has done another fine job of getting ready.
Friday night will kick off with the opening ceremony at 6 pm followed by check presentations to Freedom Honor Flight from our fundraiser in June. Highlights for the night include Bingo, Studebaker 7 and new this year A fireworks display at approx. 10 pm.
Saturday will begin with our now famous pancake breakfast put on by the baseball team. That has become a popular event with LCD. Ed and Sally will be in with the Blarney Party Radio Show at 9 am. The big parade will fire off from 3rd and Main St. At 11 am we will have softball and euchre tournaments during the day. The Fire Department will have a huge display and booths set up in the parking lot from 1 pm - 4pm. Lots of goodies for the kids to do. The motorcycle run heads out right after they finish the parade and will return shortly after 4 for the awards presentations to the winners. Flashback will again take the stage for the Fireman's Dance Saturday night right after the annual Legion Baseball Team raffle drawing. Bingo will be in the dining hall through out the day. Lots of great food and beverages available all three days. We have an excellent food court again this year.
Sunday starts at 7 am with our SOS breakfast put on by Ray Kline and Liz Staff and their fine crew. At the same time we will begin registration for the ALS Family Fun Walk which steps off at 8 am sharp. The softball tournament will continue in the morning along with bean bag toss. The Jim B Three will play music in the beer tent beginning at Noon until about 3 unless we can get enough refreshments to bribe them into an hour or so more. Texas Hold'em will be the tournament of the day, always an exciting event for us. The Show and Shine Car Show will be back with us again this year on Sunday afternoon. A new feature this year will be a kids fishing contest sponsored by the Onalaska J C's. Fishing will be 9am - Noon with prizes to the winners presented on the main stage at 1pm.
Community Days takes place on the Legion Grounds located at 731 Sand Lake Rd. with easy access from State Hwy 53. No buttons are required for access to the grounds.
